Xiaoxin Kan
I am a first year PhD student in the Department of Chemical Engineering. My research is focused on simulating aortic diseases with numerical approaches. The numerical model will be applied to predicting initialisation and progression of the complications along with current therapy. The patient management and medical device design will be improved with this numerical model.
I completed my undergraduate study in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in Fudan University, China, and finished my MSc in Biomedical Engineering at University of Southampton. After one-year industry experience at Medtronic and Microport Scientific, I moved to Imperial College London for my current research. My long term cooperation with medical clinicians and industrial R&D engineers given me innovative spirit in the journey of biomechanics.

Research Interests
My research interests include biomechanical simulation of aortic dissection and aortic stenosis. My current research covers structure simulation, computational fluid mechanics and fluid-structure interaction (FSI) techniques. My current project is focused on the prediction of TEVAR complications with multi-scalar numerical model.
Project Title
Predicting stent induced new entry evolution in patient-specific Stanford B aortic dissection model.
