Hamlyn Centre plays an active role in international collaboration and outreach activities. Focusing on technological innovation, but with a strong emphasis on clinical translation and direct patient benefits with global impacts, the Centre is at the forefront of research in imaging, sensing and robotics for addressing global health challenges associated with demographic, environmental, social and economic changes. Hamlyn therefore works with partners to host the remarkable Hamlyn Symposium and engages in an array of international activities.
The Hamlyn Symposium
The Hamlyn Symposium has been successfully conducted for the past 11 years. Associated with UK Robotics Week, which contains the International Robotics Showcase, School Robot Competition and Surgical Robot Challenge as well as International Conferences, the Hamlyn Symposium is composed of
- a series of workshops on various clinical and technical topics and
- the main conference with the participants from leading medical, science and technology institutions.
Summer & Winter School
Hamlyn Centre organises the Hamlyn Summer School annually for talented undergraduate or post-graduate students around the world. Focusing on machine learning, robotics and sensor networks, the course consists of taught lectures by leading researchers in the field, mini-projects and workshops on research & communication skills training.
The Hamlyn Winter School focuses on both the technical and clinical aspects of Surgical Imaging and Vision. Through invited lectures, hands-on demonstrations, workshops and mini-projects, the purpose of our winter school is to help researchers familiarise with the cutting edge research of this rapidly expanding field.
The Hamlyn Winter School 2018 was held on 3rd to 7th December 2018.
Accommodating Global Leaders & Elites
The pioneering research in imaging, sensing and robotics for addressing global health challenges associated with demographic, environmental, social and economic changes as well as the training of surgeons and engineers in robotic technologies in Hamlyn Centre have drawn global attention and attracted visits by many international leaders and elites.
